Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the nearest airport?

McGhee Tyson Airport is the nearest to Gatlinburg. It’s located about 40 miles away and it’s a bit South of Knoxville, TN.

You may also fly into the Asheville Reginal airport in Asheville, NC, which is around 75 miles away.

How do I Reserve a Cabin?

  • Contact us via e-mail (preferred) or telephone and we'll answer any questions and reply with a full quote for your requested dates.
  • Finalize the reservation by submitting a reservation agreement to us via mail, e-mail, or fax.
  • We'll process your payment, block your dates on the calendar, and send you a confirmation email.
  • Approximately a week before your arrival we'll send you an email with all the information you'll need to access the cabin, including several directions from various points, as well directons to the nearest grocery stores.
  • FINAL Step. Enjoy the best vacation ever at your own cabin in the smokies!

When is check-in?

You may check in any time after 4:00 p.m. Since we aren’t a large cabin rental management company, you don’t have to check into an office before they close! We will e-mail you all the information you need and you can drive directly to the cabin.

When is check-out?

Guests must check out by 10:00 a.m. If we have a check-in on the same day you leave, we need every minute in order to ensure the cabin is clean to our high standards and completely ready. We drain and sanitize our hot tub after every reservation.  This takes time.

What do you provide in the cabin?

We provide all linens, bedding, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, and dishes. There are also some snacks, coffee, tea, and cooking herbs.

You’ll also find napkins, paper towels, bathoom tissue, dishwasher detergent, all-purpose spray cleaner, garbage bags, laundry soap, shampoo/conditioner, and bath soap.

Most basic items should be sufficient for a short stay. However, depending on the number of guests and length of your stay, you may have to replenish some items.

The cabins are also equipped with a broom, mop, vacuum cleaner so so you can keep things tidy during your stay.

What should we bring ourselves?

You’ll need to go grocery shopping if you plan to cook. We’ll send you directions to the nearest grocery store so you can stop on your way in. If you plan on BBQing, you should pick up some charcoal supplies. If previous guests left charcoal behind, we leave it for you but there is no guarantee.

Also, bring an array of clothing to help you be prepared for weather fluctuations. Even in the warm summer, the evenings can get quite brisk.

Here is a page of suggested packing items that may be helpful.

Do you provide any cleaning services at your cabin during our stay?

No. We don’t provide services at our cabin. You rent our home and live like the locals! There are two trash cans outside the cabin. If you fill them, we will provide you with directions to the local garbage “convenience” center which is very near the property. There is NO charge for dropping off trash.

Do your cabins have a gas or wood-burning fireplace?

Our cabins have gas fireplaces. On chilly nights, you can simply turn them on and enjoy a crackling flame that is safe and controllable.

What are your cancellation policies?

Because we are a small business, cancellations have a powerfully significant affect on us. This is the reason we must have a strict cancellation policy.

All cancellations must be received in writing and are subject to the following penalties:

  • Over 60 days before arrival date = $100 administration fee
  • 60 days to 31 days before arrival date = 25% of rental amount
  • 30 or fewer days prior to the arrival date, regardless of the reason, you will be charged for the entire reservation. The only exception that can be made is if we successfully rebook your reservation in its entirety.

Is there a phone at the cabin?

A telephone is available in each cabin for local calls only. Our local area code is "865." This area covers a large area and extends into Knoxville. However, you will need to use a telephone calling card if you wish to make long distance calls. Some cell phones will experience limited connectivity in our area or may only work on the major roads in town.

Can I change my reservation?

Because we are a small business, changes to reservations can seriously affect us. This is the reason we must have a strict cancellation policy.

If you must depart prior to your confirmed reserved departure date, you will be responsible for all of the original room nights booked for your intended stay.

How do we pay for our stay?

We accept all credit cards, Paypal, cashier’s checks, and money orders. Sorry, no personal checks are accepted.

How much can I pay to “hold” your cabin?

If you reserve the cabin over 30 days from your stay, we need ½ of the full amount to reserve. If it is within 30 days, we require the full amount to reserve the cabin.

Do you accept pets?

We do have a pet friendly policy. Please read it carefully and make sure your pets qualify and you can live with our policies. Specifically, we ask that you crate your pet when you leave the cabin. Even the most well-behaved pet engage in some surprising behaviors when left alone in a strange environment. A secure crate with a familiar blanket from home is the best and most calming environment during your extended outings.

More on the benefits of crating.

Are there extra charges for pets?

We charge $15 per night per pet (the 2nd pet is $10 per night). There is no additional deposit required.

Can I bring my pet to the Smoky Mountains National Park?

Pets are allowed in the park's picnic areas, parking areas, and along roads, but must be kept on a leash at all times.

There are only two short walking paths that allow pets - the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconaluftee River Trail.

What Kind of weather should I expect during my stay?

Temperatures in the Smokies can vary up to 30 degrees throughout the day and night. In the summer and fall, you can experience days in the 70s and 80s and beautifully brisk nights in the 50s. Below is a summary by season:

During the early spring, It can be sunny and mild one day, and then snow the next. If you plan to hike in the Smokies, dress in layers.

 Summer

June and July can be warm and somewhat humid during the days, but you may still experience cool nights. However, if you’re hiking at elevation, be prepared for chilly weather!

 Fall

Fall is beautiful here; with mild days and very brisk nights. If you’re hiking in the mountains, you may experience some snow so bring cold weather gear.

Fall Foliage!
By mid-September, the Fall leaves begin to change and around mid-October, the Fall foliage is spectacular!
